Turn the Lights Out—And Save

As we build new distribution centers, we use high efficiency fluorescent bulbs and motion detectors to ensure lights remain off until there is a demand for them. These simple changes cut energy usage by 75% in our facilities. These lighting fixtures are installed in the new West Chester, Ohio distribution center and they will be incorporated into our new Texas and Florida locations.

Cardboard Recycling

In addition to saving energy, every SanMar distribution center actively recycles cardboard. We aggressively reuse all boxes that are in satisfactory condition. Boxes that cannot be salvaged are recycled. In 2007, we recycled approximately 5,052,947 lbs of cardboard among our six distribution centers.
