Fabric Focus: What is IL50?
IL50 certifies that a garment can withstand at least 50 industrial laundry cycles, which are much harder on clothes than a home washing machine. Specifically, look for garments that are 65/35 poly/cotton—the durable fabric of workwear across America. These garments typically feature industry-recognized orange labels such as those in CornerStone IL50 apparel.
IL50 Details
IL50 work shirts have design details that keep them looking great wear after wear. Shirt collars have sewn-in stays for a crisp look. The buttons are made from melamine that wont crack or break under the intense heat and pressure of
industrial laundering. The shirts fabric is a 4.25-ounce, 65/35
poly/cotton thats been treated with a soil release, wickable finish. The shirts also have a pre-cure press so they stay looking sharp.
Two shirt styles (SP14 and SP24) also feature a metal collar gripper snap
specifically for industrial laundering. After washing, these shirts are
snapped shut on a metal hanger before they go into a steam dryer. This
one-hand snapping process (as opposed to a two-hand buttoning process)
can be done quickly and efficiently.
IL50 pants are made from heavyweight 7.5-ounce,
65/35 poly/cotton twill and feature front and back pockets. Like
industrial work shirts, the pants have a melamine button closure to
stand up to industrial laundering as well as a post-cure press to keep creases crisp.
