It’s trade show season and budgets are tight. Here are some quick tips to make attending a trade show a valuable business building experience.
• Wear comfortable, supportive shoes—you’ll be on your feet a lot. Also convention centers are notorious for being too warm or too cool. Dress in layers. And remember, you represent your business…make sure your look is professional.
• Ensure you have plenty of business cards. Take double the amount you think you’ll need.
• Schedule vital meetings prior to attending the show. Then you can use your time more efficiently.
• Ship any catalogs or support materials you need directly to the show.
• Take a sturdy backpack or tote to hold the materials you collect throughout the show.
• Avoid wasting time and visit the show’s website prior to attending. Mark on the map the booths you want to visit.
• Follow up with your contacts as soon as you get back to the office.
